Those Big Eyes…

Hi Everyone,

We had a surprise little visitor on the slipway at North Kessock the other day – a lovely young female Common or Harbour seal. She had come up onto the concrete for a rest and was perfectly healthy and after I had a quiet look at her to make sure that she was, in fact okay – I took a few pictures for the record and then thanked her and quietly went away to let her snooze the day away until the next tide tempted her to go back in the water for some dinner.

Seals have the most amazing huge eyes, ideal for locating prey underwater in murky conditions but they also use their big whiskers to feel for food too.

Best Wishes,

Charlie.
