Lancaster, PA: Folks Stop Pipeline Construction Again

submitted to the Earth First! Newswire

“Since the DEP and FERC refuse to protect our water, we the people will protect it ourselves. The time has come for PA communities to peacefully, boldly shut down a fracked-gas industry that’s destroying our state. Rise up, friends!”
-Lancaster Against Pipelines

The action took place Saturday, May, 12th, on the Pequea creek (tributary of the Susquehanna river). Williams Partners construction workers have built a temporary coffer dam to divert water allowing them to trench across the Pequea, essentially making a creekless area. Around 50 folks took to kayaks to halt work, as portage must be made available by the company. Work was shut down for the day as the river rats paddled, swam, played water ball, and ate pizza too close for their comfort.
